How will slow fashion work? Gather round children..

I had home ec in middle school (grades 6-8) waaaay back in the early '90s. We had it I think two days a week for half the year. The other half of the year we had wood shop (blech...I would have happily done home ec all year). We learned basic sewing (first project was an apron, final project was a pair of shorts), cooking, and very basic finance stuff. It was also offered in my high school as an elective, but I went with creative writing and film studies instead (because that's practical).

I don't have kids, but from talking to friends/relatives who do it seems like a lot of the "non-core" classes I had in elementary and middle school have been cut from the curriculum. Not sure what replaced them, though. We had art, music, computer programming (this is hopefully still offered!), and foreign language as our "fun" classes.
