How would you feel if your student loan debt is paid off funded by taxing billionaires?

I'd be okay with that.

My college education was paid for by a millionaire. The guy my dad worked for was wealthy. One year when the business was doing very well, the boss offered my dad a huge bonus. Instead of taking the money outright, he asked if he could get his kids' college paid for in lieu of the bonus.

The boss agreed. It probably helped that he was able to write it off on his taxes, but the bottom line is that my brother, me, and my sister got tuition and books paid for.

That's how it should work. What this wealthy and very generous man did was not to spread his wealth, but to use it to fund the next generation. Out of gratitude for my dad, but also because he wanted to do more than just make money for his own family.

If billionaires had the same foresight my millionaire beneficiary did, we'd all be a helluva lot better off. Because of this man's generosity, me and my siblings all have degrees and make far more than our father did.

And if the billionaires have to be dragged kicking and screaming to this realization, I'm okay with that.
