If you are above 300 and don't like doing nightfall/shaxx bounties/etc then stop doing them for the rewards

I'm not arguing with the fact that Destiny is designed to affect our behavior... Hey, look, I know it's fun to argue, but can you try to actually engage with me like I'm not a child for a second? That might mean looking to understand what I'm saying as a whole instead of looking for "gotchyah!" moments. That way, if you disagree with me and respond (which would not make you naive or laughable) you can actually respond to the meaning of my post.

In the first quote, I am arguing that blaming displeasure with Destiny on psychological manipulation is a little disingenuous because it's really not that addictive. While Destiny is certainly addictive (just like every game is), it is not so addictive that people are disabled or violated by the psychological strategies used in its design.

In the second quote, I am arguing that similar or greater use of psychology is around us in every form of media. People who have drinking problems are not on the same level as people who watch too much tv because alcohol is more addictive than tv. While more people are probably addicted to tv than to alcohol, the strength of alcoholism is far greater than the strength of a tv addiction. And for that reason, I believe the everyday person ought to be able to stop watching TV if they desire to stop watching TV. Likewise, the degree to which Destiny is addictive is hardly to the point that we are unable to stop playing when we want to stop playing. Or at least I think anyone has been gaming should probably already be familiar with this kind of addiction and be familiar with dealing with it. Destiny is not especially manipulative, so let's stop pretending that it is.
