IGN Review of Gone Home for consoles. Scored higher than Witcher 3, which they awarded GOTY...

"Just as you think I'm beating around the bush with my argument, I think everyone else is beating around the bush by saying this game is worthy of a perfect score"

  • NO ONE is saying it's worthy of anything but what the reviewer deemed it to be.

"It gets ridiculous when things are overrated because of that, or any single aspect though, whatever it may be. That's my main issue here."

  • I await your epic rant on Hatred then, oh yeah that never happened.

"yet you all only like it because one of the characters happens to be a lesbian (feel better now?)"

  • I already told you I got the game when it originally came out and the review sites were kind enough to not spoil it, so I had no clue that was a part of the game's story, nor did it affect my enjoyment of it after the fact. In fact, I also already told you I enjoyed the games setting and themes because I grew up in the 90s punk scene (era the game is set in) and a lot of it resonated with me even though I am a straight male.

"If everyone were open and honest about that, I really, really wouldn't care."

  • I think we are, we just don't give a shit. It's a non-issue. We have real life problems to worry about and get upset over.

"But don't say a game that takes so little time and effort to complete is some kind of masterpiece that impacts the medium"

  • Time to complete a project doesn't necessarily have any bearing on it's quality, how it's received etc. A short poem may be considered a literary masterpiece; while a novel with thousands of pages might be relegated to the back of a dirty book store to little appraise.

"The Last of Us was a masterpiece. Witcher 3 was a masterpiece. Ocarina of Time was a masterpiece. Gone Home is no masterpiece."

  • That's your opinion, something you cherish but don't grant the reviewers the same benefit; that they are human and have independent opinions.

Some consider Fallout 4 GOTY material while others consider it to be a disgrace to the series, a broken mess and a slap in the face to it's fans. How can that be, it took like 7 years to create - surely that must mean it's a perfect game and everyone should agree on that.

But, you know what - you may be right.

Now make like a tree and frig off.
