I'm 24 with a degree in Music Technology. My only interest is music technology. There are no jobs in music technology. I'm stuck!

To answer your first question, I was, and am still doing steel stud framing. However due to the extreme physical nature of the work, and my history of car collisions and work relates injury, I'm actually looking for something else. Those are only a couple of the reasons I'm looking to change trade, but that's not the point of the topic. In actually a very mechanically and creatively oriented person, but I don't give two shits about cars so I ruled out automotive technician as a potential trade. Honestly I am trying to get away from the belt and harness, but residential construction is appealing to me at the time.

Depending where you are, there is for sure full time work in any of these trades, and you can use the experience gained in one trade as a foot up if you want to switch in a year like me.

I think the important thing to do is to keep your dreams in check. I will always want to be some sort of doing writer or whatnot, but I realize that not everyone can do it. In the future if I meet a lady that I'm willing to settle down with/for, then I would assume the role of my trade. I will never give up on my dreams but sometimes life wakes you up and wants you to contribute in a certain way. And sometimes, like me, you will wake up and realize that you can do both, but one will just require more effort and time, and still might not get anywhere. I like to think that's why they call it passion. It never gets old, and your always doing it because you love it, and for no other reason.

So pick a trade, doesn't have to be one you'll do in five years. That's a process, finding a trade you can go into and not want to quit every day is a process on its own. Once you get comfortable enough, you can still do anything you want on the side. It might not turn into anything over night, but it's all dependent on what you're expecting and how much effort you put into it.

Life is crazy bros, let us keep our heads up.
