I'm a woman. My abuse was ignored because she's also a woman, and, from the police officer's mouth, "She's not that much bigger than you" as if size matters?! Size doesn't always matter when it comes to physical abuse, but that officer apparently needs his eyes checked because she was 2 inches taller and 120 pounds heavier than me. No I couldn't get her off of me when she straddled me to choke me.

But no. We were in a same sex relationship, so another officer says, "it's just a bad breakup" and yet another says, "it sounds like a scuffle" despite me not putting my hands on her.

Not to mention the fact that emotional abuse gets ignored by so many people.
