Ixalan and Dominaria in the same standard?

There seems to be a disproportionate number of Kamigawa fans on reddit. Seriously, I hated that set, and not for powerlevel reasons. I don't know anything about Japanese mythology, and that set was jam packed with stuff that just didn't resonate with me. Staying true to the source material is nice for the people who know the source material, even if they only know a little, but for everyone else it's alienating.

When I think of a spirit, I picture an Innistrad-style spirit. Ghostly, undead, and most importantly, FLYING. Spirits float over the ground! They don't walk! Every time I saw a spirit without flying I wondered "how is this a spirit?" And Kamigawa was absolutely full of spirits. Also, they don't look like this weird thing or whatever-the-fuck this eldrazi looking horror is. What in god's name is that?! I guess I learned a little about Japan from the set, mainly that spirits are all over the damn place there, and they're all made out of play-doh by David Cronenberg.
