J Balvin - Colores

re: him being problematic . he's a white latino who's done a lot of things wrong, and people are allowed to be angry or not support if they don't feel uncomfortable with his actions. i personally don't feel guilty about supporting someone if what they did was redeemable and actively hold them accountable, but i'm not everybody, so please respect the people who are rightfully upset in these comments as well. in regards to christopher maurice brown, everyone knows what he did and why people gallivanting around with him is trashy. we need to be respectful of people, especially victims, who don't mess with the collab, regardless of how it came about.

i'm a black latina, and i don't really like the excuse that the n-word is said in latin america to dilute the outrage. black latinxs exist, the word literally comes from the spanish word for "black" (the word for the color itself said in certain contexts by certain people is also racist), and the word holds as much power as it would said by a white american. i don't know if he said it, but if he did, it's offensive because j balvin IS white at the end of the day. speaking spanish doesn't automatically take that away. let's not act up now. j balvin is colombian, and black colombians are definitely a visible/significant amount of the population for him to know not to be racist to black people, if he did say it. he also lived in the united states for some time, so even if this belief that race doesn't exist in latin america (it does) is true, he still should've known from being here. let's be real

you are allowed to like problematic people (to a point) as long as you hold them accountable, but please don't guilt people for not doing the same, especially if they're affected by what the person did. please be more considerate
