Jason Schreier: Video game production cycles have gotten so long that if a big-budget game studio started working on a brand new project today, it would likely be for the PlayStation 6

Two points:

1) Games are too long. Cut the length and some content. Did you really need to visit every realm and have a 30 hour god of war game? Why does Horizon Forbidden west need so much stuff? I get it’s not a 1:1 thing but come on games used to be under 20 hours. Epics are fine but why does every game need 40-80 hours of “content”

2) I’m at the point give me a little jank, reuse stuff from prior games, maybe it’s not the most ground breaking technical showcase but you actually release some games. If you don’t agree that’s fine but that’s exactly what Elden Ring did and killed it winning game of year almost everywhere I look.
