[Jones] Contreras said he started imagining himself as a Cardinal the day he saw Albert Pujols hit his 695th homer. Said he was on the IL, watching from the bench, envisioning playing for a team with that kind of tradition and celebration.

We gave him the same value of a contract as Uadi at the same age and you guys questioned that deal too.

Yet, Yadi kept producing as expected until his final season.

You wanted to bet on Contreras until Yadi retired, claiming he was always better than Yadi the whole time... He is Geovany Soto 2.0...

Now that Yadi is done playing you're done seeing if Contreras is any good at all, though? and if Contreras reclaims any potential and greatness as a catcher going forward, it's obvious Cubs fans will die before admitting it...

80 million over 5 isn't going to sink us when you look at these other deals, especially if we start getting more value out of the catcher spot going forward.
