Jose Mourinho on ManCity FFP allegations. "Difficult for me to answer because I focus on my job, on the four lines. If you want to speak about their football potential that starts with investment. After that there is quality of the work, of the org, I think that is untouchable."

You know? About this whole Man City thing, I am in two minds:

  • On the one hand, it is cheating and it should be punished. Out of European competitions, without a doubt. I don't know if there are any FFP rules applicable for the Premier League, but if there are rules forbidding 'fake sponsorship deals', then they must be investigated and punished. This shouldn't be tolerated.

  • On the other hand, the bullyish nature of the City directors, and their relentless thirst for seeing their club win, I think it's at least a bit admirable. It reminds me of Sir Alex's thirst, that they should do everything possible to get an advantage, even if some things were bordering on the bullyish. It's like... they would stop at nothing to win. Which, in itself, is quite admirable. Their cheating is completely unsportsmanlike - as I said, no question about it. But the spirit behind it... I think it's something you need to take your team (and even the sport itself) to a new level. These directors did it at Barcelona, with Pep. Sir Alex did it with United for 27 years. And top-level football today is partially molded after relentless spirits like these.

Just a thought.
