Just finished chapter 5

okay, fine.

(Break into a prison to save someone. on the way out get ambushed because Shania, that fucking psycho bitch, snitched on the party. said ambushers proceed to completely curbstomp the party with basically no problems whatsoever in cutscenes.)

I hate this because I'm a firm believer that the trope of 'win the battle, lose the cutscene' needs to die. it makes you feel like you wasted your time, even IF you won the fight

(Party gets thrown in jail with the exception of Mio. Mio is going to die in a month. the party basically then gets to wait that month, only to be brought out to watch the other character die)

Essentially trapped in a completely hopeless situation while the enemies hold ALL the cards, have all the power, have a hearty gloat in your face about how YOU failed with the party having ZERO victories in any way that matter, and then you have to watch one of your party members die.

(then afterward, the main character gets a sword made of the sharpest material ever brought down on him)

Do I even need to explain why this is bad? Who cares if it cuts to black, it's THE SHARPEST SWORD EVER. You don't need to see what happens to infer what happened.

I hate all of this. it just makes me angry
