KDE Plasma vs Gnome

2 decades ago, Gnome put me off using a DE at all, I had no idea KDE existed because Redhat was the only distro I used, besides straight from scratch builds I did for ipchains routers I built.

I'd try it again every few years, it wasn't going to work for me. I got back into using Linux as a desktop about 7 years ago and almost went back to Windows when Ubuntu changed to Gnome, but I tripped over Plasma and haven't looked back.

Personally, I think Gnome is the reason Linux on the desktop never came to anything. I really don't think the attitude of the devs is any different now vs then. It's a corporate desktop and they have no interest in catering to users by being configurable, or even working in good faith with people that try to make it configurable.
