Kevin Durant responds to a YouTube comment asking why he cares what people think: "I play basketball, I got acne, I grew up with nothing, in still figuring myself out in my late 20, I slide in DMs, I make fun of my friends, I drink beer and play Xbox. I'm closer to you than u think"

It's a honest answer, but it shows that his mind is not ready to be a professional in anything.

A person that gets millions of dollars, has sponsors, millions of fans and such NEED to be prepared, NEED to be professional, NEED to do stuff that they don't in order to have a healthy job environment and please the franchise/club/org. They CAN'T behave just like 'any person' just because it would feel hearthwarming (at least in most aspects), specially like dealing with criticism and fans.

As the old chinese wise proverb says, 'with great powers come great responsability'... he can't get tons of money and fame meanwhile simply chosing to avoid to all the bad aspects that comes along, that is being professional and mature (even if it's not as pleasing as doing whatever he wants).

Yeah i also feel great when a top athlete (or any famous person) show mundane part of their lives, that they are humble and simple... But running away from responsabilities while enjoying the good part of his career is very very childish, this is not only for basketball.
