I think we all knew GG was gonna go back to being niche once SF, Tekken, and MK come out anyway. I don't think it's controversial to say part of the reason it became as popular as it did was the lack of competition, no?

I'm just surprised how they backed themselves into a corner with the season 3 announcement on top of all the issues they have been experiencing for some time now. Happy fans were promised more content, but they evidently are taking on too much, and, RN, they seem to be speedrunning the "going back to being niche" part, which's sad because they worked hard and still had two months to retain as many people as they could before even beginning to get to that point.
