Are fighting games getting stale?

There are far less fighting games that are like DarkStalkers. Nowadays, it's mainly just Street Fighter or Marvel and nothing in between. The Darkstalkers mentality in fighting games have been abandoned in modern fighting games. Guilty Gear had a mentality like that, which was already rare and now, it doesn't. It's like a combination of Street Fighter and all the worst mechanics of the past game.

And while this "niche" is nice, it's not much of a niche. It's just pandering to a bunch of people. I mean, I know people who got into Guilty Gear Strive cause it was an easy way in for example. They knew about Guilty Gear for years and NOW they want to "learn it"? My sack. It just shows that people want a free pass to being the next "Leffen" and having their balls stapled to the fighting game hall of glory rather than the fact that they enjoyed the game. Cause if said individuals enjoyed the series, where the hell were they when me and other homies were learning?

My point is, I don't enjoy games like Strive or DNF or whatever the hell else is coming out lately. A lot of them are the same focus and there's really no variety in how these games play mindset-wise in all retrospect.
