Klopp doesn't want "someone else" and neither should we...

I think our transfer policy is pretty streamlined if you go by what Rodgers has said in recent interviews. This is my interpretation of 2 scenarios that might have happened in terms of Rodgers's involvement and Transfer Committee's recommendations.

Scenarios 1 -

Step 1 - Rodgers recognizes a need in the squad.

Step 2 - Transfer Committee ( TC ) makes a list of names going by the requirements set by Rodgers.

Step 3 - Rodgers gives in his recommendation(s) on his top target from the list provided by TC.

Step 4 - TC moves on to sign top targeted player(s) for each position, if top target is missed due to whatever reasons, TC goes back to Manager and asks him to make another choice from the list. And so on until a player is signed.

Scenario 2 -

Step 1 - TC recognises an "asset" in transfer that has huge potential for return. ( For instance, Balotelli )

Step 2 - TC discusses with Rodgers about the potential "asset" available and if he would be comfortable developing it.

Step 3 - If Rodgers approves the idea then TC moves on to sign the player.

So in Scenario 1, there was level of compromise that was involved when top targets were missed which in turn triggered signing of many players with supposed "potential". But all signings who came in must have been done with Rodgers's approval, no way around that. Be it Markovic, Balotelli or any other player.

Now coming to Klopp, I think he is trying to eliminate this compromise factor in Scenario 1 as the article suggests and try hard for the top targets for Jan transfer window and not go with any compromise option in case top target is missed, which I think he can afford to because he knows he can attract big name signings in summer window which Rodgers maybe was not comfortable with or simply not capable off. Scenario 2 stays as is under Klopp too, but he will be much more authoritative on who he wants in unlike Rodgers who maybe gave in to the pressure politics.

It would be interesting to see how Klopp manages to handle situations that Rodgers was part of when top targets are missed in summer, if they are.
