In La Haine (1995) there is a scene where Vinz talks to himself in the mirror. In the filming of this scene however, there is no mirror involved. The actor is in another room with a body double standing across him mimicking his movements.

There are other tricky scenes in this movie, including the one where a drown is flown over the city: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qo3EwozH0Y They had to first diy the drone with camera and then edit out its shadow on film. On top of being a great film in terms of storyline, acting and meaning, it' s technically amazing. Too bad Kassovitz and Cassel won't link up again.

It' s also why he doesn' t want to make any movies anymore. After a few bad experiences in Hollywood and then in France, he said he doesn' t want to make films when people don't care about the true craft behind it. Now you can film amost everything in front of a green screen and cgi + vfx does the rest and the public doesn't care. He's still sour from the poor attendance of his last film but I can imagine him returning if he finds a good story.

Also another fun fact: La Haine was hailed as amazing at Cannes and he won best director. The year after that he made a film about the trivialization of violence in the media and one critic called it the worst film in the history of cinema. I actually quite liked it and I think like La Haine, it was prophetic as 2 years after you had Columbine. I recommend it if you can find it, it's called Assassin(s).
