In The Social Network (2010), as Divya runs to the Winklevii, he goes up stairs and crosses a bridge just as a crew boat rows underneath it. It took so many takes to get the boat's timing right that by the time they got it, the actor playing Divya had run the stairs so many times, he was throwing up

Ah yes, absolutely crazy; Eastwood with 9 Oscar noms, twice winning best director and best picture.

Fincher has been... nominated twice.

Of course there’s ‘poor awarding’ and politics to the academy, but when that’s the gold standard the industry uses for awards, it‘s not at all crazy to say Eastwood is on the same level as Fincher.

Also in the context of this thread, there’s something to be said that Clint “two takes” is able to pump out quality movies (5 best picture noms) when we’re saying Fincher is working actors and stunt doubles to exhaustion with 99 takes of a scene. My main point being, there is a talent to being able to pump out quality film with a couple takes each, and it shouldn’t be negated if comparing a directors whole body of work with another, when the other needs months longer and many more takes and editing to pump out a quality film the same length.
