Last night, I stood up to a toxic player. It felt good, and you should do it too.

I was in competitive constantly hero switching to try and counter the other team because clearly what we had wasn't working. So I switch to Tracer (who I'm not great at, but I was trying to get them out of the chokepoint). As soon as I switch, some guy is aggressively telling me how to play and being all 'Why aren't you doing this/that/etc.' and I hadn't even left spawn. He told me to take out a teleporter that wasn't up anymore. I ended up switching again, and he was still telling 'Tracer' what to do when we didn't even have one. When we lost he got incredibly salty and complained that we didn't follow his 'plan' when we didn't even have one. I started arguing back but all he could do was insult me (during the game, he was concentrating on typing his argument more than playing the actual game) so I just gave up and reported him.

Another incident yesterday was some guy started off really positive, then just insulted this one guy and my group and I just started spamming our love for him ('Don't listen to him, we love you!'). It seemed more like banter but it's good to make sure your teammates don't leave the game feeling like they can't play.
