Learning to ball...

I was in an accelerated program at 6, so they taught us rudimentary algebra and the basics of multiplication. I remember it very clearly to be honest. Stuff like 3x2 and she'd set the pieces into two piles of three, or three piles of two to show how basic multiplication worked.

Then for basic algebra she'd do stuff like 3+x=5.

Super basic stuff but at 6 we were able to comprehend it. Unfortunately the accelerated class only met once a week so it was hard to really keep up a pace of learning beyond what we should at our age. It helped a lot. Unfortunately all of the programs stopped in middle school, we went to a bad one and there wasn't even honors classes. I think that set the pace for my high school years, even when it was a good high school. I left with a 2.6GPA and didn't go to college until 24.

So if my rambling meant anything, I'd say keep up fostering the learning. When the challenging stuff stopped in school I stopped caring. Started drinking and smoking because I was bored. I dunno if I would have had I not had that extra push.
