At least 30 dead in "attack" during Bastille day celebrations in Nice. Stay safe French Gators

These continuing attacks are dire. I find it comforting to look at the people fighting ISIS on the frontlines in Syria and northern Iraq. I'd advise that if ISIS has got you down you should take time to learn about and remember these people, Peshmerga being the most prominent. The United States is now providing direct military and financial support to them.

On one hand we have ISIS, a fascist, monolithic Islamic group that wants to build a literal kingdom. On the other we have Kurds and Syrians, Muslim and Christian alike, who want democracy, independence, and self determination.

I'm pointing this out because one of the things I hear often is the sentiment that "Muslims aren't doing enough to fight terrorism". While I'm sure this is true of far too many Muslim communities, we should all also remember that a predominantly Muslim army is doing the majority of the fighting (and dying) in the war against ISIS. ISIS has made victims out of people from nearly every nationality and nearly every religion; it is up to everyone to stand up to them and reject their fascism.

Vive la France.
