The legal age to buy cigarettes in the state may be heading up from 18 to 21

Smoking is a public health crisis. There is no doubt about it.

That said, we have to be very careful about our MA inclination to take further nanny state action. I dont support raising the smoking age. I do partially support raising the price to make it more of a burden to purchase them, though.

if people smoked in their homes and left me alone I would not care at all about the smoking issues that go on. If you want to poison yourself, more power to ya, dummy. But smokers arent like that. Smokers have the amazing habit of smoking directly in front of building entrances and exits, exposing 3rd parties to the smoke. They also have the laughable habit of taking one last haul off the smoke, walking inside of a building and exhaling. I mean, seriously? Then we have most smokers who treat the outdoors as their personal ashtray and trash containing for their habit.

As a little "L" libertarian, putting pressure on smokers is not something I take any pride in but at the end of the day I'm exposed to 2nd hand smoke basically every day and that does have a negative effect on my health.
