Legion Respec Costs

There's a lot of confusion and misinformation going around about this.

Here's how the respec gold costs scale currently at level 100

  • 1st respec - free
  • 2nd respec - 15g
  • 3rd respec - 31g
  • 4th respec - 46g
  • 5th respec - 62g... and this is the cap. All additional respecs after this (6th, 7th, 8th etc.) also cost 62g.

That is at level 100. Can't test level 110 at the moment but I'll report back once they enable the PvP realm again. IIRC from last time I tested this the other day it was the same though.

Note that switching to your Primary spec is always free and does not increase the gold costs. You can choose what your Primary spec is at your class trainer. - There is also a cooldown period where if you haven't switched specs for a while, the cost will go down again gradually. No idea about the exact timeframe. - If you get "force switched" by queuing into an instance (dungeon, battleground, etc.) as a different role than your current spec, then that switch is free as well.

Personally, I'd prefer if they added a purchasable Secondary spec which would also be free to switch to, but that's probably not going to happen at this point. They really want you to play only one spec this expansion for some reason. That's also a big reason why they're trying to make healer and tank specs viable for world content.

But let's be real here, we're talking about peanuts. 62g is not that much gold. Bohoo you now have to pay for changing spec. What you don't have to pay for on the other hand, is changing talents. Talent changes are now completely free all the time, no reagents needed. Also access to a third or fourth spec is really nice.
