Lets try to guess some 6.84 changes

Mechanics

  • Minus 1 armor on Tier 3s
  • No change to glyph recharge, but gold from towers slightly increased
  • Slight reduction in rubberband mechanic

Items

  • Added +5 cooldown to Eul's active, -5 movespeed
  • Magic Wand now gives +4 stats, requires one more Iron Branch, recipe cost reduced by 50 gold
  • Recipe cost reduction on Armlet (indirect buff to Chaos Knight, Wraith King, Lifestealer, Huskar)
  • Price reduction to Vitality booster (buffs Vanguard, Heart, Bloodstone, and Rod of Atos)
  • Vladimir's Offering Mana regen increased to a flat 1.0, lifesteal 17% instead of 16%
  • Lifesteal and Skadi can no longer stack
  • Radiance recipe cost reduction (indirect buff to Naga, Spectre, Doom)
  • Pipe of Insight now gets the +2 attributes, 50 gold recipe cost reduction
  • Morbid Mask price increase of 50 gold (small indirect nerf to Mask of Madness)
  • Helm of Iron Will price reduction of 50 gold (small indirect buff to Veil of Discord)
  • Heaven's Halberd damage increased to 30
  • Assault Cuirass aura attack speed increased to 25 (indirect buff to many unused heroes)
  • Arcane Boots now gives +300 mana instead of +250
  • Orchid recipe cost increased by 25
  • Rod of Atos now gives a 300 HP increase instead of 250 HP
  • Linken's Sphere recipe cost reduced by 25 gold
  • Desolator recipe cost reduced by 50

Heroes

  • Small agi gain reduction to Juggernaut
  • Int gain reduction on Storm
  • Small cooldown increase on Lina's Laguna Blade
  • Nerf to Wyvern's ult cast range. Added to Captains Mode
  • Nerf to Earth Spirit's damage from spells. Added to Captains Mode
  • Small nerf to Oracle's ult cooldown and Fate's Edict cooldown. Added to Captains Mode
  • Sniper's Shrapnel gets a small damage reduction and starts with 1 charge, number of charges increase with level
  • Small base armor, base agi, and agi gain reductions on Troll
  • Small buffs to Alchemist, Maiden, Razor, Leshrac, Dark Seer, Pugna, OD, Visage, KOTL, DK, Tusk, Elder Titan, Ursa, Naga, Clinkz, Terrorblade, Luna, Enchantress, Shaman, Lifestealer, Tinker, Lone Druid

Wishful thinking but unlikely

  • Increase in cast range and AOE of Sniper's shrapnel, damage reduced significantly, 1/2/3/4 charges, Aghanim's upgrade for global Assassinate
  • Drums uses long cooldown rather than charges for its active, like Reddit suggested
  • Reduce the comeback mechanic significantly.

Kill-streak gold, consistent XP gain from killing high level heroes and buffed creeps, and the previous nerf to pushing should somewhat be enough. This patch turned the dial too high. It was a fun and valuable experiment, but too little of your early and mid-game performance and your strategies matter due to the comeback mechanic. Games tend to be a close call to the very end and I think it ruins the spirit of the game and seems rather forced and artificial. Pushing heroes and offlaners don't need major buffs, the meta just needs to stop punishing them so hard. It's time to turn it back down again somewhat, so it's not too cold, not too hot, but just right.
