[Lewenberg] The Raptors win over San Antonio last Friday was the most-watched regular season NBA game ever in Canada. DeMar DeRozan's return to Toronto attracted an average audience of 710,000 on TSN and more than 2.5 million unique Canadian viewers.

Yeah, plus I went to med school in the states and just ethically, I could never work in that system. Maybe they are just used to not everyone getting healthcare, but the things I saw were just terrible and I could never look myself in the mirror if I supported that. One case that stands out to me, that Ill never forget (cause this was my real introduction to a fucked up healthcare system in the richest nation on earth) was there was this homeless man who was always around the hospital. Under law, we have to treat all emergencies and stabilize you. Then if you cant afford to pay, you throw you out like a piece of garbage. So this guy, around 50 yrs old would come in about once a month. Really nice, appreciate dude. I would always buy him lunch, whenever he came in. Always talked to me, remembered my name, actually remembered that I was Canadian and always poked fun (in a fun way) about it. Good dude overall. Anyways, without getting to graphic, he had a tumor in his colon. Sometimes it would get so bad, he could pass a stool, so he had to come in, we would stabilize him, clean up his stomach and out he went. Over and over again, we would do this, once to twice a month. Then about 1.5-2 yrs in, he stopped coming in. I havent seen him in a few months, so I look up his medical record to see. Turned out he died because the cancer eventually spread and he died. There are 2 problems with this. The obvious moral aspect that just hurts. The second, is that if we just removed his tumor the first time he came in, it would have cost the govt and hospital a lot less money then his constant visits. So we wasted more money and killed a man.
