Lied to my dad that the doctor said he can’t drink alcohol anymore

Dude, you have no idea what family life with an alcoholic dad means!

My father used to drink every day, several beers until he was absolutely off his face. He wouldn't talk, or play, or do anything. Just lie on the sofa. This is how I remember him my whole childhood and teens. I didn't get a dad, I've gotten a broken family that tried to fix whatever shit was caused. Have you ever tried to confront an alcoholic about their addiction? Have you??

Alcohol is so fucking detrimental to any relationship and corrupts any family it gets in touch with. My dad's alcoholism extinguished whole parts of my soul and broke several people in my family.

If I had had the chance to lie to him for even the tiniest chance of improvement of my family or my dad's health, I would have done it no questions asked!

OP, I salute you for what you've done!!
