Outside of blantant executions, officers from the party would come to your house even in remote villages to see if pictures of Mao were hung in the house among the shrine. Failure resulted in lashing in townsquare. If you had said anything unfavorable about the CCP treatment or held on to any pictures of the dalai lama, it was instant imprisonment and work camps.

So I'm sure the youtube video you mentioned exists, however ask yourself if the person in the video had said anything other than Tibet bad, China good. You'd think they be walking around freely? or even be able to upload the video for that matter? I know redditors love to complain about "well America did this and did that", but atleast you don't disspear the next day and have your entire families imprisoned for speaking your mind. Don't get me wrong China is great economically as long as you don't defy the CCP. And when the CCP continuely restricts freedom of speech, religious rights and other basic human rights, it becomes very hard to stay silent. That't why you see an uptick in self immolation in Tibet. Where people literally rather burn themselves in protest than be oppressed any longer. A final act of free will.
