I never said 3 million gun owners, I said 3 million people who have a right to buy a gun whenever they want. A shooting committed by someone who bought their gun 3 years ago is equivalent to one committed by someone who bought their gun a day beforehand. There is no way to tell how many gun owners in Chicago there are anyway. Illinois requires you to register your guns, but Indiana is a 30 min drive away from Chicago and they have no such rules about gun registry. People moving in from other states can just not report their firearms either. And there’s a private gun blackmarket in any major city that allows you to sidestep the official process if you don’t want to register your gun for one reason or the other.
