Linguistic fun fact of the day: the direct descendant of Ancient Egyptian, Coptic, is still spoken to this day!

  • This is really cool, it's weird that Spain feels like and old big held together country when in reality it's got like 7 different languages and half of those are spoken entirely by people who wanna get off of spain.

  • neat that these guys were even interacting.

  • I know that both of them adapted writing systems off of Chinese, but the language is completely separate? That's really cool, did these languages have formal writing systems before the Chinese influence? Is there much remaining of those old writing systems in the current versions?

(sorry don't know if this is outside the scope of linguistics but it's a really cool topic and im heavy posting RN)
