Link Zelda by Sakimichan

There seems to be some misconception out there that Link and Zelda are/were romantically involved, and in reality, it's nothing of the sort, and frankly, it offends and irritates me a little. Link is a sort of a Royal Guard in that he protects Zelda, and serves her. Link is like a knight without noble birth. They are allies, and friends, and if anything have more of a brother/sister relationship. In Twilight Princess, it's implied that he is already in a romantic relationship with Ilia. He takes on the task given to him by Zelda, not because of the power of boners, but rather because he sees it as his moral duty. His Princess, and the kingdom, need him, and he answers the call, because of who he is as a person. He is not on a quest to save his "girlfriend" he is on a quest to rescue the one whom he serves, and in doing so, save and protect the kingdom and world he calls home. There is not one single game in the franchise wherein Link takes on the challenge of saving Zelda and Hyrule because he's "in love" or because he expects a reward, or because it's expected of him. Although plenty of people have asked him for his help, he doesn't answer the call out of mere social obligation, he does it because he can, and because it's the right thing to do. In that sense, the only thing that truly compels Link to take on such a challenge, is his own sense of morality. Simple as that. So when I see someone paint a picture of Link and Zelda being all romantic like, I perceive it as an insult; one that invalidates Link's true motivations, and by extension, his courage, and character. I think the people who perceive Link and Zelda's relationship as a romantic one, are entirely missing the point, and demonstrate their lack of understanding as to Link's true character and motivations. If their logic was accurate, then Link would be an unworthy vessel for the Triforce of Courage.

The painting itself is nice enough though. I'm not a big fan of the realistic anime style, but it definitely took some talent and patience to make this. It still doesn't change the fact the artist doesn't get Link, or his relationship to Zelda.
