Everyone’s entitled to care about whatever they want and choose whose work to support accordingly. You can’t dismiss the things other people value in an artist/media figure just because it doesn’t personally matter to you.

While you may not care how much money your favorite artist comes from or how streamlined their path was, others may deliberately want to support artists who come from less privileged backgrounds to help try to offset that class divide in whatever tiny way. Not to mention, someone might find that they simply relate more to the perspective of someone from a similar economic background. Perfectly reasonable criteria for the completely subjective process of media consumption. If it makes you upset beyond that, I’m curious why.
