[Longines Nautilus] Picked up a Longines Nautilus Skin Diver today, do you know much about these?

I think you're missing what I'm saying, I have no problems writing about my watch, or any watch and I believe there's more to contributing to a community than "karma", which is worthless, right?

What I was getting at is the quality of posts contribute nothing to the discussion beyond band choice or taking a long winded approach to saying something that could be more concisely articulated without needing to pad out the comment.

Yes, I could have said more, in fact I had written more, however it wasn't enough, by 50 characters and was removed.

So rather than resubmit and pad it out like the others, I had to raise this issue. I can only imagine how many others abandon what could be great submissions as they've had their comment removed or can't say anything further.

What I am trying to get across is that this limit is a bit far reaching, there are many people who would choose to not submit at all as they're not able to write that much about it.

For example,

This is my Longines Nautilus Skin Diver, from what I know it was made in 1959, it has an automatic movement and features the image of a skin diver on the case back. It's 40 mm across and has no complications. The bakelite bezel is in pretty rough shape, however I think it adds to the patina.

That's 292 characters. That is the extent of what I know about it now, and that it's rare, but that's subjective.

So I have to come up with 200 more characters to be able to share this new acquisition and have a discussion about it. Now, I'm comfortable with padding it out, I could talk about that it has a cheap aftermarket strap or that I bought it at a store, however neither add anything to the discussion about the watch.

It shouldn't be too difficult to come with 4 or 5 sentences worth of rambling relevant to the watch

If you look at the posts, with how they're padded out with irrelevant information and run on sentences you can see that others are struggling with this too. It's not leading to quality posts, it's leading to "rambling" sentences.

This is not a case of being lazy and not "putting in the legwork", more an acknowledgement that this prohibitive and causing discomfort for some.

I'm trying to help, this isn't me criticizing, this is me helping to bring forward another point of view in hopes that we can improve this community for all.
