[Rolex] Explorer II, Reference 1655, an oddball and not the hottest watch, but I like it.

Here is my Rolex Explorer II, Reference 1655 Albino. Rolex introduced this model in 1971. Reference 1655 provided a function for speleologists (cave explorers), who could lose the sense of time during their work.

Reference 1655 has the same movement as Reference 1675, caliber 1575. Unlike reference 1675, Reference 1655 used a fixed 24-hour scale indicator because cave explorers only need to know whether it is AM or PM. Further, it is one of few watches where the date function is necessary for its intended use.

The dial and hands are completely different from anything Rolex made. That is why I like it so much. The 24-hour hand was originally orange and has turned white over the decades, hence the nickname “Albino.”

Timekeeping for cave-dwellers never looked so good! The unique Rolex Explorer II Albino - a rare treasure with a colorful past and a dial unlike any other. It's time to explore the extraordinary!
