Managers, is your higher compensation worth the stress and responsibilities?

Honestly, no. I get paid a good wage but I am expected to always be available by phone or email. When an emergency happens I'm the one heading to the office at night or on the weekend to deal with it. My boss is willfully oblivious to my workload and has unrealistic expectations of what I can accomplish in the run of a week so I often work long hours to get it all done. Mediating my team's expectations, my boss' expectations, and client expectations is exhausting. Dealing with employee performance management is exhausting. I often feel like I'm drowning. I work in a very niche industry/job so I would probably have to relocate in order to find another comparable position. My partner is a Red Seal tradesperson, has very little stress, and earns less than I do but not a whole lot less. The grass definitely looks greener on the other side of the fence.
