You are under the assumption that taxes are the governments only form of revenue. Spoiler: it isn’t. There are many powerful and wealthy entities that would very much like to keep the status quo comfortably right where it is.

Secondly, you’re right. They can’t put us all in jail. In fact, saying jail is the “second” step was probably generous on my part. It’s more like the eighth or ninth step in reality. First, they will charge you late payment fees as a warning compounding the longer you refuse payment (in addition to an ever mounting interest rate on top of that). But so what? You still ain’t gonna pay so fuck em! Well, if you won’t send them their money they will just come and get it themselves. They will seize your assets and property and garnish any wages you make. You will never earn an honest dollar for the rest of your life that won’t go to to US government until the insurmountable debt you’ve racked up is gone. They WILL get their money whether you want to give it up or not.

So now homeless, penniless and starving, tell me how many people will still go along with your libertarian wet dream? Not many, I’ll bet. At least you can hope they throw you in jail so you’ll have a meal and a roof over your head.
