Cans is from the idea of having a drink after Ashley is finally gone. Like “I have a few cans of beer ready for when this is over.” Over the 4 years of takeover drama it’s just been shortened from “is it over, can I have some cans?” To “Cans?”. And the response of “yes have some cans.” To an affirmative “Cans.”

On a side note some people have been holding on to a special set of cans that they’re going to crack open well past their “best to consume by” date.

Basically you can replace cans with “cheers”.

It’s like saving that special bottle of whiskey or wine for a special occasion.

And “Aye” is just yes in the local dialect.
