Newcastle United Saudi Takeover MEGATHREAD Part II

I think even the most ardent supporters recognize the issues with the bid already, even if it doesn't make them oppose the bid.

That's an interesting view. I know for a fact that it's not true.

The sheer volume of our supporters who know nothing about the Saudis, the consortium, the PL, the atrocities or anything else is mind-blowing.

But the bigger issue is thousands of our supporters are acting as Saudi bots on social media. In trying to support the Saudi bid, they've been spreading pro-Saudi and anti-Qatari propaganda for months, without stopping to think about what they're doing.

Demographically, it's the younger fans and those without further education. They're all ardent supporters. They spend all day on the club hashtag. But they've got no idea about the issues with the bid. Why would they when they spend all their time blaming Ashley, the PL and Qatar?

That's why Liew's absolutely correct. It'll take time for the fog to clear in those people's minds. Sportswashing absolutely works and it's tragic.
