Men are way more accepting when it comes to women's looks than women are about men's looks.

As someone who has done online dating on both sides of the aisle, I can tell you it's much easier to find same gender matches on online dating sites. It still can be an ordeal either way, but it's nice to at least get a good amount of matches. Over 5 years i've only been on a couple dates with girls from tinder, and you gotta keeping things interesting without being weird or overbearing to even get the time of day. If you chat up a girl too much she'll be really into it but then keep you at arms length, whenever you try to take it further. Guys are much more ready to meet(or hookup for that matter), but that makes it harder to read them sometimes, but that's just my experience.
Don't get me wrong, I believe plenty of girls aren't against hookups, they're just not gonna advertise it, cause that could easily be a disaster.
