I've known Mike since before he was elected to the Michigan state house almost 20 years ago (he's a longtime family friend). I get a chance to see him about once a month, and I always try to debate him a little when I do. Before the travesty of Trump being elected, I was a staunch Republican (it's how I was raised as well), but now I have lost all faith in the party. I try to sway him to actually think for himself instead of the towing the party line, but he is just chock full of talking points. It's very frustrating. Because I know how upstanding as a man that he is in his personal life, I am truly saddened by how seemingly incapable he is of critical thought. I wholeheartedly disagree that he is a "shitbag" but I can tell you with certainty that he is spineless.
