Hey I just got back from OCS and the packing lists were all pointless. I ended up throwing away 90% of the stuff I brought because you just get issued it during in processing anyways. The only things I was glad I brought were:
Everything else is either issued to you or you can just buy on liberty or during PX calls.
As far as boots go, I wore Bates lites despite the fact that they didn't fit my feet well and gave me terrible blisters. I ended up altering my stride because of the blisters which then resulted in shin splints. Honestly fuck Bates lites... the jungle boots they issue are much more comfortable. And the staff highly discouraged you from wearing Bates lites anyways.
If you really must bring boots then get a pair of danner reckonings. Hard to find in stock though. You could probably get away with just getting the "danner" branded ones instead of the ones with the EGA as long as you don't wear them during inspection (wear them during the e course and PT only)
