Sun Have you tried grilling mango and spicing it with chili and lime? You could play around with this. My mother did this once and it was delicious. Or maybe something utilizing crab/lobster/shrimp and a mango salsa or chutney?

Another idea is to make a spicy soup, using saffron to give it a bright yellow colour? Roasted yellow peppers or yellow tomato or lentils or mussels?

Mercury Mercury is the littlest planet and has the most temperature variation, so perhaps a very small dish, like an amuse bouche, that plays with hot/cold (think a baked Alaska type concept, where one element of the dish is hot and the other is cold). You could make something traditionally hot, and add a savory ice-cream or sorbet? Bonus if you play with flavor in the same way too - so one element is spiced and one is not?

Venus I think the love aspect of Venus might be an inspiration, otherwise you could use the fact that it’s a volcanic planet. For the latter, if you’re able and it’s not too gimmicky you could do that cool smoke thing that they do at Noma with the smoked quail egg dish (or any dish where a lid is lifted to reveal some smoke). Or you could use something smoked as an element in the dish. If you’re getting inspiration from Venus’s association with love (as far as its name goes), maybe something very light and airy, perhaps with oysters, or think of ingredients like pomegranate seeds, lambs lettuce, rosewater, etc?

Earth Maybe just make something that tastes really earthy? And use colors, brown and green in particular? Maybe a fish with mushrooms, ramps, root vegetables, lentils/legumes, soba noodles, etc? In terms of presentation you could also utilize herb blossoms.

Mars Mars is the god of war, too, so I’d go for the opposite of Venus: bloody and rich. Rare meat, a rich sauce?

Jupiter It’d be cool if you could make something that looks giant, but when cracked open is small and uses foam.

Saturn Calamari? Onion rings? Apple fritters? Haha. Though it’d be cool if you could elevate those things somehow, through spices/flavourings.

Uranus A savoury or sweet millefeuille or tiella? Or a trifle?

Neptune Really easy to do a fish dish for this? Perhaps a ciopinno or bouillabaisse? Or if just based on the planet, maybe something using something “blue?”? Eggplant, blue potatoes, blue cheese?

Pluto Earl grey or black sesame ice-cream?
