Really have no idea how I did this - won the Trophee des Champions, Coupe de la Ligue, Coupe de France, Ligue 1 and Champions League in my second season with Lille.
2014-15 I was second by a long way, knocked out of cups early on and suddenly started dominating the second season. No preset tactics or anything, and the team isn't crazy, this is by far the best achievement I have ever done in a CM/FM.
I chose Lille because I had a decent save with them before my laptop hard drive got wiped a few months ago but never had any result like this. Don't know what to do after winning everything so soon, and now I've already hit the point where I don't really want to upgrade on any players because I'm attached to them...
Anyway, here's how I built the squad you see in the screenshots. Thought it might be interesting.
SUMMER 2014
Tabanou - £4.5m from Saint Etienne.
Used as starting left winger.
Balanta - £5m (+ £7.5m/36 months, clauses) from River Plate.
The obvious buy in every single game I start.
Zapata - Loaned, bought for £2.3m after season from Napoli.
Good rotation striker but damaged cruciate ligaments in the first match of 2015-16 and barely played again.
JANUARY 2015
Mbokani - £2.5m (+ £5m/24 months, clauses) from Dynamo Kiev.
Replaced Nolan Roux who scored 17 in 20 and was sold to Man Utd for £16.75m.
Martinsson Ngouali - £500k from Brommapojkarna.
Rotation midfielder. Replaced Idrissa Gueye who was sold to Anderlecht for £4m.
Benali - £800k from Troyes.
Bought as backup with Enyeama at AFCON but took starting spot.
Aranguiz - £4m from Internacional.
Playmaker, more of a rotation option in 2015-16.
Maksimovic - £5m from Torino.
Rotation defender, can play anywhere in defence.
SUMMER 2015
Niang - Loaned, bought for £3.5m (+ clauses) in January from Milan.
Plays mostly as AMR, didn't play much before January, bought on a whim and is either great or useless.
Imbula - £2.5m (+ £5m/24 months, clauses) from Marseille.
Useful central midfielder, not a flashy player.
Renteria - £2m (+ £5m/24 months, clauses) from Santos Laguna.
Couldn't resist buying yet another striker. Scored 7 in his first 6 games and broke his leg.
Thauvin - £2.3m from Marseille.
No idea why he was so cheap. Turned out great in every AM position.
Ljajic - £7m/24 months (+ clauses) from Roma.
Unhappy at Roma, wasn't in great form. Replaced Marvin Martin, who was sold to Zenit for £7m.
Oliver - Loaned, bought for min release fee of £17.75m after season from Atletico.
Wonderkid playmaker, trying to mould him into a false 9.
JANUARY 2016
Zouma - £7m (+ £8m/48 months) from Chelsea.
Unwanted and barely played for them. Replaced Manolas who was bought for £4.5m and sold for £9m after half a season.
Cabaye - £4m/24 months from PSG.
Unwanted and PSG are paying his entire £36k/w wages. I wanted to bring back homegrown stars - Hazard is the dream.
