I’ve added more info and sources to my previous post, I hope that extra info clears up some confusion you seem to have. The info you cited is referencing herpes 2 (genital herpes) which is distinctly different from herpes 1 (oral herpes/cold sores). They act very different and the viral shedding is distinctly different from genital herpes. I really hope you read what I posted above and look at the info on the website. It breaks my heart when people aren’t properly educated about cold sores and it adds to the stigma of them. It’s really hard seeing my loved ones struggle with them (they’re usually already sick and miserable) and people treating them like they have the plague when they see them or find out they carry the virus. They really are totally different from genital herpes.
