I do the same, and then still check both ways - even if I have the green.

A few years ago, I was waiting at an intersection, preparing to go straight across when I notice the woman across from me (coming at me) is inching closer - it's apparent that as soon as the light is green, she's going to try and nail it and make a left, as she has no left turn arrow. So, I hate people that pull that shit - I'm not going to hit her, but I'm going to scare the shit out of her. I was in my Cobra Convertible with the top down and I was watching the light like I was at the strip - as soon as it turns, I'm going to jump out and allow her to make her turn, but come as close as possible to broadsiding this bitch.

The light turns and I pop the clutch and am watching her in this beat up POS try to outrun me. Knowing I'm well ahead of her, I stop and hit my brakes to allow her to go ahead... When WHAM! this Dodge Neon comes flying from my left and just broadsides that woman. Admittedly, I didn't see the Neon at all - I was so focused on scaring the woman making the left that I didn't even look. A huge chunk of Neon headlight lens comes flying into my car and hits my girlfriend in the head and I watch as the Neon goes skidding off the road. I stop and get out and the POS car is full of little kids and they're all really fucked up. The Neon finally comes to a rest and it's two teenage black girls, both on their cell phones just standing there talking "Oh shit girl, you aint gonna believe this - I just hit this car!!" I'm screaming at them to get the fuck off the phone, my girlfriend is crying and trying to help all these messed up little kids - it was just a total clusterfuck.

But if there's one thing I've learned - wait a second and allow the retards to get the hell out of the intersection before trying to get through.
