My girlfriend cheated on me, but my band played its first this weekend.

Well it's a long story, but I'll try to make it a Reader's Digest version; so if you're on for the ride it starts here.

A while ago I was in High School and finally dating the girl of my dreams and a crush for 3 years. Me and some of my close friends decided to try to get a band together somewhere throughout that time period. I had another guitarist who was the opposite of me, if you know Judas Priest, he was K.K. Downing. All flashy and a showman. I was more Like Glenn Tipton. Reserved and more focused on refining technique. He was only a friend of about a year. The other member was a bassist who had been my friend for quite a few years prior to this. We were really close.

Now back on to my girlfriend, her parents didn't like me after we were caught having sex. They're very traditionalist people, so they put us on lockdown for a year. About 3 months into that year we started to fight a lot because of the strain her parents imposed on us. Eventually that lead to me confiding in another girl who actually decided to take my side instead of arguing all the time like I did with the girlfriend. So we broke up and the other guitarist immediately started trying to date her. This brought the whole band idea to shambles. I was still friends with the bassist all the way through High School, and he was one of my biggest supporters in comforting me as I tried to win my girlfriend back. I owned up to everything and got her back in a sort of cheesy Rom-Com fashion.

Fast-Forward a few months we're preparing to go to college and the bassist decides to stab me in the back and make a move on my girlfriend. She puts him down and I remove all contact of him from my life. The bassist and other guitarist end up forming a band together. I can only look at it as what could have been for me. But ultimately it came down to my girlfriend. We've been together for nearly 5 years (with a one year break in the middle) now, and after our next year at a 4-Year university we plan on graduating and getting married.

Funny enough, she's in a cover band with her dad and his friends. Unfortunately they don't need a guitarist. :l
