My grandpa turned 91 today.

Bob turned 91 today. He always said that the day he turns 90 will be the day when he is officially declared an ‘old’ man. He was born in 1926 in Samnorwood, Texas. In August of 1944 he married my Grandmother Wanda. He was 18, she was 16. He met her on a hayride at a Church get together where she stated "he was the most charming gentleman and won my heart immediately". A month into their union he was shipped off to War where he fought the Japanese in the Philippines. When he returned from World War II he graduated from Texas Technological College which was Tech with a degree in Agriculture. He taught Agriculture for 20 years in Levelland, TX. He later earned his master’s degree in Education and became a High School Guidance Counselor for 25 years. He has been married to my Grandmother for nearly 72 years.

He has taught me everything I know. He has produced 10 grandkids and 16 grandchildren.

When it looks like it’s going to storm he says “It’s about to come up a cloud”. When he is amazed by something he says “My lands…” or “Well I’ll declare…”. Its wrastling not wrestling and it’s worsh not wash.

Now that he’s ‘old’ and I just wanted to reflect on his life and say they don’t make them like this anymore. Happy Birthday Grandpa.
