This is good for up to about 2.5" of snow. More than that and the blade collects too much snow requiring shorter distances pushes. Over 2.5" or so is when I'll switch to the snow blower.

It has an inch wide hard plastic blade on the bottom which slides over asphalt and concrete easily. It's pretty solid so you can put some force behind it if need be.

If you have some of that real heavy slush snow then no shovel works well. But in general this thing works out very well for me. It's pricey, though.
