My phone notified me that my wife may be having heart trouble. Five hours later…

For those with health anxiety: heart attacks don't typically come with just a fast heart rate, nor are they caused by it. Actually, a heart rate of 110 beats per minute (bpm) is pretty normal and likely just your body doing what it needs to do to alleviate something else (fever, dehydration, injury, stress, fatigue).

The whole point of heartbeat and bloodflow is delivering oxygen to tissues to keep them alive. Delivering more oxygen helps in all kinds of ways, specifically - as in this case - it helps prepare your body for battle or running for your life when your brain tells you it's time to PANIC (whether the need is real or not).

Heart rates at or above 150bpm and sustained or associated with other complaints are what concerns people who help fix these things, especially in someone with a previous cardiac history. Barring that situation, if you're feeling anxious because of a fast heartbeat have a nice cool drink, get comfy, and take some slow, deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth as many times as you can stand it. It sounds silly but usually works to reset what's got your heart all jumpy.
