My sister and I recently shared one TV to play Zelda: Wind Waker on GameCube and the Wii U. I can't get over this feature

First off, I want to thank you for the smiley face, because as silly as it is, I appreciate it right now because all of these downvotes and comments are coming in like negative waves.

The reason I keep defending myself though is I understand what everyone is stating. I get your analogy. I never had a different vantage on this. I suppose my title is misleading and should actually read, "my sister and I share tv TIME" because frankly that's all that was happening as I never had to stop playing because the ability to switch main displays.

I UNDERSTAND that when I play on the Wii U pad, there's nothing occurring on the TV. So when I stated, "sharing the TV," I guess I really just meant sharing time with it. However the main reason I didn't want to make this statement is because that's no different than when you have one GameCube and you simply take turns playing on each other's files.

As the Wii U is a console, it will typically be connected to a TV, and as such your Wii U console will be stationed there and you really aren't using a device akin to a portable DVD player because you can take a portable DVD player anywhere. You cannot take the Gamepad anywhere as it has to be in the vicinity of the console.

So if it weren't for this hardware, we would not be able to play the game simultaneously right next to each other. I realize I stated that this was sharing the TV. Everyone is talking about how the TV isn't doing anything to run the hardware, and that's true. However the TV is the hub of entertainment, the area where these activities will take place. My sister and I were able to share this singular space while playing the same game.

I admit my title is misleading by how I phrased it, but I fear it has also taken away from the sheer pleasure this device provided. We play console games on TVs, outside of the Wii U. That's what I am getting at here. I didn't have to connect a separate TV in the same room to share this experience with her. I was able to pass the TV over to her—so maybe not actually sharing it, but am I really making such a polarizing, flawed statement?

I'll stop arguing my case after this, so I apologize if you feel that I am coming across as the most stubborn, idiotic person you have ever talked with on the Internet. I believe this statement surmises everything I have to say on the topic. Once again, I appreciate you being cordial.
